Church planting is best accomplished as a team
project. We are so thankful for the Ridgemont Baptist
Church teams from Abilene, TX that have been
working with us since May 2004 to penetrate new
housing areas and help us establish "Communities of
Hope" (cells) and house churches. Their recent
nine-member team was a tremendous blessing,
working hard for two days in our violence plagued city.
Saturday was difficult and we saw few results from our
efforts in Finca Bonita and Paraje Oriente, but
Sunday was absolutely great. We began what we
pray will be a new house church in Paraje San José,
and helped support a great effort by our Mexican
team mates in Colonia Olivia Espinosa.
Pastor Rudy from Ridgemont and Bony from
Communities of Hope led conferences designed to
help families deal with problems encountered in their
family life. People heard positive Christian messages
and were able to share their prayer concerns.
We were also able to take family photos of 70+
families and will begin delivering their photos this
week. This is not only a service to these
communities, but also a tremendous way for us to
make friends with these families.
We ask your prayers for Paraje San José
especially. Our church planting team will be
returning each Sunday morning to follow-up this effort
and strengthen this new group.
